Hunting and fishing with eternal purpose.
Walk Afield helps you create a greater purpose in the woods, prairies, and rivers we love—building Christ-centered disciplemaking friendships that multiply.
Mission
Between His resurrection and ascension, Christ spoke clearly: “Make disciples.”
That’s it. Crisp. Clear. Concise. Sure there are a few more words in Mathew 28:16-20, but the core is clear. As it turns out He spent three and a half years showing us the “how” of disciplemaking. Our mission is to teach, train and embody a Jesus-like way of life focused on disciplemaking friendships that result in disciplemaking friendships forever and ever.
Why Afield?
His presence feels close out here.
Like you, we spend countless hours afield in pursuit of game and fish. In those quiet moments—river fog rising, tailgate closing—we’ve felt His presence more clearly and whispered, “Thank you, Father.” If that feels familiar, you belong at Walk Afield.
A Stage With Eternal Impact
Most have heard the five stages of hunting/ fishing:
One doesn’t need to have gone through these stages to consider a “stage” with eternal impact. Making disciplemaking friendships who make disciplemaking friendships ad infinitum. For us we find that there is no better place to start, develop and magnify those friendships than when we’re doing a shared passion like hunting and fishing amongst His grandeur.
More Than a “Spiritual” Experience
Writers in the hunting and fishing space sometimes describe a “spiritual” or “near-spiritual” experience afield. We nod along. Some even note that they pray while afield—pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)—and our hearts soar at that thought. More often, “spiritual” refers to a connection with nature or self. And for those people, we’re saddened—not in judgment, but because they are missing the magnificent adventure of following Jesus Christ. If you are a Christ follower ready to pick up His directive to make disciples, we’d love to connect.
What does Christ-like discplemaking look like?
Join us as we live the adventure that Christ had in mind as we share the disciplemaking life afield.
Disciplemaker Prayer…
“Father, the fields, forests, prairies and streams we walk in are all Yours. Thank you Father for these blessings. Open my heart to your Word. Fill my heart and direct my steps to go and make disciples in the mission fields I find myself in each day starting with family and friends. Draw my heart to you and the specific people you want me to walk with afield in Jesus-like disciplemaking friendships. Let me not miss the adventure that you send my way that lets me share the Good News of Jesus Christ. By your Word and Spirit transform me into a follower of Jesus who loves you, loves people, and makes disciples, who make more disciples forever and ever. “
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
